Assistant Professor, Faculty of Science, Software and Sustainability (S2)
Assistant Professor, Network Institute
Assistant Professor, Research Programmes - Science, Software & Services
Within empirical software engineering, Dr. Bogner applies both qualitative and quantitative research methods to study how software is developed in industry or how it should best be developed. Based on these results, he creates and evaluates reusable tools, techniques, or methods to support software professionals. Dr. Bogner's two main SE knowledge areas are software architecture and software quality, especially maintainability, evolvability, and (environmental) sustainability. In recent years, he has focused most of his research efforts on software engineering for AI-based systems (SE4AI), combined with a research line on the energy efficiency of ML-enabled systems (green AI).
