Jean Gohin is a PhD Candidate in the Water and Climate Risk group at the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM). His research is part of the EU-Horizon project CLOSER which aims to develop an expanded science of extreme event attribution. Specifically, he will be developing complex systems models which will integrate the climatic and non-climatic drivers (e.g., land use change, socio-economic dynamics, policy) of compound climate-related disasters. These models will be used to better understand and forecast systemic climate change impacts, and to enable effective risk-reduction and adaptation policymaking.
Jean holds a Master of Science in Climate Studies from Wageningen University & Research and a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts & Sciences (major in Earth, Energy & Sustainability) from Leiden University College The Hague.
His prior research activities includes his MSc thesis which focused on compound hydrological hazards at the global scale; as well as his work at FutureWater, where he contributed to 3POLE4FOOD, a project aimed at assessing the future impacts of climate change on mountain hydrology and agriculture in Asia.
