His research interests revolve around critical approaches to understanding the social sources and processes behind foreign (economic) policy making. In his postdoctoral research, he investigates the variations of technonationalism across Europe, the political economy of coalitional dynamics behind them, and how the latter are shaped by the US-China rivalry. In his PhD thesis he examined the role and influence of European foreign policy think tanks and how they have shaped the development and gradual geoeconomicisation of the idea of strategic autonomy during the past decade. He has published on the EU’s “geoeconomic turn”, the role of think tanks in it and in European foreign policy more broadly, and on US foreign policy under Trump. He is currently working on turning his PhD thesis into a book and on several academic articles on topics of his postdoctoral research as well as on the EU’s institutional adaptations to geoeconomics and Biden’s foreign policy.
Currently, Jaša is supervising Master and Bachelor theses that broadly fall under the subjects of geopolitics, geoeconomics, European foreign policy, and European integration. Previously he designed and taught a course on European Union Foreign Policy and the Liberal International Order at the Freie Universität Berlin
