Ira Chatterjee is Assistant Professor of Management and Organization at the School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. After completing her MBA at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, she spent over a decade in industry followed by a decade in education before completing a PhD in Entrepreneurship, Management and Organisation at the Hanken School of Economics in Finland.

Her research combines organization theory and entrepreneurship to examine how organizational practices and institutional arrangements enable organizations and entrepreneurs to address complex societal challenges and create lasting social impact. She has a particular interest in the organizing processes through which organizations, entrepreneurs, and institutions collaborate across sectors and drive change. Her research has explored these questions in areas including social entrepreneurship, women's entrepreneurship, rural entrepreneurship, and cross-sector partnerships.
Ira Chatterjee teaches across bachelor’s, master’s and executive MBA programmes at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her teaching spans organization theory, sustainable entrepreneurship, organizational change, and research methods, and includes the supervision of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral research.
