I am an anthropologist passionate about collaborative work across scientific disciplines and professional fields. My research looks at how diverse groups negotiate definitions, values, roles and responsibilities around a shared concern. I explore this in a variety of empirical lenses, from migration governance, development and humanitarianism to healthcare and biotechnologies.
My latest work focuses on transnational collaboration in biomedical HIV cure research, differing logics in maternal care, and boundary-work among interdisciplinary healthcare professionals. Prior to healthcare research, I have many years of experience ethnographically researching return migration, migrant entrepreneurship and transnationalism. I am committed to bridging the gap between academic research and practice and creating impact through collaboration with policymakers and civil society stakeholders, practitioners and industry partners.
I have held positions at universities in Italy (Milan-Bicocca), Senegal (IFAN), the UK (LSE, Goldsmiths), and the Netherlands (Erasmus-ISS, VU Amsterdam). Before being an academic, I was an international development practitioner in Sub-Saharan Africa and South-East Asia. Outside work, I am a passionate Instagram user, love meeting people from different walks of life, ride a Cinelli race bike, swim and hike in nature.
