Federico Riva is an Assistant Professor working to understand the potential contribution of land use planning for biodiversity conservation. His research aims to inform global biodiversity plans that call for increased protection and management of native habitats, including plans proposed in the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (e.g., “30 by 30”). He is specialised in spatial analysis and biodiversity science, working at the intersection of landscape ecology, biogeography, and macroecology. He is particularly interested in probing the potential of management of large numbers of small habitat remnants for biodiversity conservation.
