Fabian worked with directors, choreographers and performance artists, co-founded the theatre collective Ponies (2005–2015) and performed as drag persona Massiah Carey, co-organized queer safer (clubbing) events for queer, trans, nonbinary people in Rotterdam, before studying and engaging with sociology.

Fabians research concerns community engaged scholarship with queer refugees in the Netherlands. They are interested in co-creating knowledge in creative ways together with queer refugee communities, community organizers and artists. The research is embedded in the research project Engaged Scholarship Narratives of Change and affiliated with the Refugee Academy (VU).
In 2020, Fabian completed a Master of Science in sociology (cum laude) at the VU Amsterdam, Netherlands.
In 2004, Fabian graduated as an actor/theatremaker at the HKU (University of the Arts Utrecht, Netherlands).
