Personal information

I am an associate professor of accounting, having joined the VU in 2013. After successfully completing the tenure-track, I was promoted to my current position in 2018. I earned my PhD in 2013 from HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management in Leipzig, Germany.

Research

My research is fairly diverse, but mainly centers on the role of the audit profession in society. A secondary interest is in accounting standard setting and regulation, with a leaning towards accounting history. In my research, I mostly use qualitative methods (interviews, ethnographic observations, documentary content and discourse analysis, etc.). My work has been published in journals such as Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, Accounting and Business Research, Contemporary Accounting Research, and European Accounting Review.
