Personal information

Diego Paschoal was born in the city of Três Rios-RJ, Brazil. He is Adjunct Professor IV of Physical Chemistry at the Instituto Multidisciplinar de Química (IMQ) of the Centro Multidisciplinar (CM) UFRJ-Macaé of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, since December 2015. Currently, he is also guest researcher (CNPq-Brazil Postdoctoral Fellow) at the TheoCheM Group at the Department of Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Netherlands) with the supervision of the Profa. Dra. Célia Fonseca Guerra. He holds a Licentiates degree (2008), a Bachelor's degree (2009), a PhD (2014) and a Postdoctoral (2015) in Chemistry from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) with the supervision of the Prof. Dr. Hélio F. Dos Santos. Leader of Núcleo de Química Teórica e Computacional de Macaé (NQTCM) and Núcleo de Estudos em Química Energética e Ambiental de Macaé (NEQEAM). Researcher of the Program Young Scientist of Our State (JCNE) of FAPERJ - Brazil. Permanent member of the Postgraduate Program in Bioactive Products and Biosciences (PPG-ProdBio) and Multicentric Postgraduate Program in Physiological Sciences (PPG-MCF). Affiliated member of the Brazilian Chemical Society (SBQ) and International Society of Theoretical Chemical Physics (ISTCP). Currently, Coordinator of Research, Innovation and Postgraduate Studies of CM UFRJ-Macaé and Vice Director of Research, Development and Innovation of IMQ. He has experience in the areas of Physical Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry, with emphasis on Theoretical and Computational Chemistry, working on the development of computational protocols, adjustment and development of atomic basis sets, calculation of nonlinear optical properties, studies of thermodynamics, kinetics and electrochemistry involving transition metal complexes with anticancer potential (SDG 3), studies of computational nuclear magnetic resonance parameters and in calculations with the inclusion of relativistic effects. He also works on molecular modeling studies aimed at finding drugs to combat the SARS-CoV-2 virus (SDG 3) and has carried out studies involving the removal of CO2 from the environment (SDG 13), the development of dye-sensitized solar cells (SDG 7), and projects aimed at digital inclusion and the use of digital technologies in education (SDG 4).
