Caroline obtained her PhD in applied mathematics at Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) in 2017. After that, she spent two years as a postdoc at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. She also worked part time at ORTEC from 2011 till 2018. In 2020, she started working at the Vrije Universiteit as assistant professor at the department of Operations Analytics.

Her research focuses on operations research solutions for society. This involves applications ranging from crisis response to water management. She often does interdisciplinary work with colleagues from healthcare, emergency services and law.

Caroline lead team Team ‘Coka Coders’ in the optimization challenge from the EURO working group for Vehicle Routing and Logistics (VeRoLog).
