Panopto: the new video application for VU

The VU is switching to the new video application: Panopto. The current two video applications Kaltura (video.vu.nl) and Mediasite (av-media.vu.nl) will then be phased out and be replaced by Panopto.

Important date

Closure of Kaltura and Mediasite.

Students cannot save private videos in Panopto. Videos and any other files stored under students' account (My Media) in Kaltura will be available for download until 10 June.

Mediasite has now been closed.

Downloading and securing videos.

If, as a student, you have videos on Kaltura that you want to save, you must download and save them yourself. By default, the option to download a video is not always available. Thus, the owner of the video, often you, must set this first.

You can download your videos on Kaltura by following the instructions on this website.
Click here to go directly to the instructions.
In Canvas, only the original video format (Source file) is available for download, this will usually be an mp4. On Kaltura, there are more video formats available to choose from.
