After graduating from the Health Economics and Management specialisation, Wouter built a career that bridges consultancy and academia. Today, he works as a Strategic Healthcare Consultant at Vintura, advising ministries, insurers, pharmaceutical companies, and hospitals, while also conducting research at VU Amsterdam on pharmaceutical policy.
“The master showed me how much I enjoy working at the intersection of research, policy, and practice,” he explains. A pivotal moment was his internship on medicine pricing, which gave him insight into how commercial and policy perspectives connect. “That experience taught me how to translate theory into practice and showed me the real-world impact of economic analysis.”
For Wouter, the combination of consultancy and research is ideal: consultancy helps him turn complexity into practical advice, while research provides the depth to understand systemic challenges. “The programme gave me both the analytical tools and the policy insights I now use every day.”
