I was lucky enough to get selected and for the last few months I have worked as one of two RA’s for my building. My job is fun, interesting and can best be described as a liaison between the tenants of my residence and the housing company Duwo, which owns and maintains the property. When a tenant has an issue with their accommodation, with the facilities, with one of the other tenants or a personal issue they reach out to the RAs and we do our best to fix it.
In my experience so far, the main issues we have had to resolve have been technical in nature (broken furniture, cleanliness, plumbing, etc). Most of the tenants at Uilenstede are super polite and working with them has been a delight. Another important part of our responsibilities are to organise social events for the residents. The events we had this year range from bar trivia, to a museum excursion, to movie and game nights, to a food drive for Ukrainian refugees. In short, the entire purpose of an RA is to make living at Uilenstede campus the most enjoyable experience for the other residents as it can be.
