Merel Trossel - Product manager Motek Medical B.V.

Alumnus Human Movement Sciences
After Merel completed her Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy, she obtained her Master's degree in Human Movement Sciences: Sport, Exercise and Health. During the Master Research Project, she worked with one of the products of Motek and came in contact with the company. Meanwhile, Merel is working as a Product Manager at Motek Medical B.V.

"As a Product Manager, I am responsible for the further development of the products and how these products are offered to the market. These products are developed for rehabilitation and research purposes. It is important to gather the needs of the market and  process feedback from the customers, and translate this information to improve and/ or develop our products. Besides product development, I am involved in supporting complex Sales projects, providing product information and events for Sales and supporting marketing activities."

"Our products are used by Human Movement Scientists. Therefore, it is important that I understand what kind of work Human Movement Scientists do, what they do/don't need in terms of equipment and what their pains and gains are. In addition, I need knowledge of biomechanics and experience with human movement research to be able to work with our products as Product Manager."

A tip from Merel: "I would advise to do an internship/thesis at an external organization, so you learn how to work in practice and to build your network."
