Margreet Onrust works as staff developer/educational developer/materials developer within the Dutch part of the ALP. She held the position of associate professor at the School of Language and Communication within the Faculty of Humanities at the VU until June 2018. Since 1990, she has been teaching Dutch writing skills to students at the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences (SGW) and other faculties. She has also developed communication skills courses for various faculties at the VU and UvA. Margreet is (co-) author of two books on style and writing in Dutch: Formuleren (1993) and Helder Schrijven (1994). She obtained her PhD from the VU in 2013 for her research on writing and style advice in Dutch, and is currently working on a book on the effects of formulation choices on text quality.
Margreet is co-author of the feedback website NLS Online and the Toolkit Academic Skills for the ALP. She has also developed ALP self-study modules on challenging aspects of academic Dutch. She is currently developing short practice modules on specific stumbling blocks in Dutch, for various groups of students.
