Julia Tolra Azor, Jr. Medical Affairs Manager at Danone Nutricia

Alumna
When Julia Tolra Azor from Spain found out the Netherlands offered very interesting programmes in neuroscience, she chose to continue her studies at VU Amsterdam and obtained her Master's degree in Neurosciences in 2023.

Why did you choose the research master in Neurosciences at VU Amsterdam?

I am from Spain and I couldn't find a Master's programme there that would offer both fundamental and clinical specialisations as part of the programme. I did some research and the Netherlands offered very interesting programmes in neuroscience, including the Neurosciences master at VU, where I applied and luckily got accepted.

What was your background (Bachelor's)?

Biomedical Sciences at the University of Barcelona.

What did you like the most about this research master? / What aspects of this master did you find most useful/interesting?

The fact that you can choose a clinical/fundamental track in the second year. I really enjoyed the elective courses from the clinical track.

When did you finish this master?

In August 2023.

What are you doing now? / What is your current professional focus/occupation?

I was offered the opportunity to extend my contract at Danone Nutricia, where I was doing the internship for my second year Neurosciences Master's programme. My role is Junior Medical Affairs Manager in Conditions of Aging. I am working on a medical food that is intended for the dietary management of early Alzheimer's Disease.
