Students experiment with advanced technologies such as the digital “Anatomage” dissection table, which renders the human body in intricate 3D detail. They also explore themes such as sustainable healthcare, encouraging critical reflection on the impact of healthcare on people, society and planet. Our pioneering SpringLab initiative is currently being rolled out to other faculties. By 2030, it will have evolved into a university-wide network of educational innovation hubs, where students and lecturers co-create new learning concepts. Virtual reality and AI-driven simulations will allow complex scenarios to be experienced as if they were real. Students will co-design their own curricula and collaborate across disciplines to develop groundbreaking solutions.
Innovating on education
At SpringLab, students from VU Amsterdam’s Faculty of Medicine are driving educational innovation. Guided by experts, they enrich the medical curriculum with additional modules tailored to their own learning needs – and to the latest developments in healthcare and science.
