Feline chose the Master’s to deepen her knowledge of the subjects she found most engaging during her Bachelor’s in Economics and Business Economics at VU Amsterdam. “I was especially interested in macro- and microeconomics, and I wanted to explore these areas in greater depth. What convinced me to stay at VU was the quality of the Economics track—the courses were challenging and well-designed, and the professors were both highly knowledgeable and approachable.”
She particularly valued courses like Advanced Macroeconomics, Applied Econometrics, and Macroeconomic Policy in the EU. “They gave me strong quantitative skills but also a broader understanding of why markets behave as they do and how policy decisions shape both society and the economy. That’s something I still carry with me today. Even when reading the financial news, I immediately start thinking about how developments might affect the companies we work with.”
For Feline, the Master’s provided a strong foundation for consulting. “It sharpened my analytical skills, strengthened my familiarity with economic and financial concepts, and trained me to approach problems in a structured way. Those are exactly the skills I use every day at Simon-Kucher when advising clients on growth strategies.”
Her advice to future students? “This Master’s is perfect if you want to strengthen your analytical and quantitative skills while also gaining deeper insights into the forces that shape economies and markets. If you’re interested in topics like international trade, economic development, and the intersection of economics with politics and consumer psychology, you will find it both highly relevant and rewarding.”
