Margrethe Jonkman (1969) is President of the Executive Board of VU Amsterdam since 1 November 2023.
Educational background
Margrethe Jonkman obtained her master's degree and PhD in Food Science and Food Technology at Wageningen University.
Work experience
Jonkman started her career at FrieslandCampina in 1997 and has held various positions in the field of Research & Development (R&D) with responsibilities at regional and global level. These include consumer products in Europe (2000-2008), Asia, the Middle East and Africa (2008-2011) and global R&D for infant and young child formulas (2011-2014). From 2014 to 2023, she was Corporate Director Research & Development (CTO) responsible for FrieslandCampina's global R&D organisation and from 2018 she was a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
In addition to her work at FrieslandCampina, she has held various administrative positions in the field of research and valorisation, including that of board member of the NWO Domain Applied and Engineering Sciences (AES) and chair of TKI Top Sector Agri&Food.
