Charlotte chose the Environmental Economics track because of her strong ambition to create a positive impact on society. “This programme gave me the ability to think analytically, connect complex ideas, and apply theoretical frameworks to real-world policy challenges. That’s exactly the kind of mindset I need in my current role.”
She credits the programme’s flexibility for allowing her to shape a broad and adaptable academic profile. “From environmental economics to public finance and climate-related policy—my studies prepared me for a wide range of topics.” She also appreciated the space the programme offered to pursue extracurricular development alongside her coursework, which accelerated her personal and professional growth.
In her role at the Dutch government, Charlotte quickly earned trust and responsibility. “Working on public finance is incredibly dynamic. There’s a real political dimension to it, and I love the energy of collaborating with young, driven colleagues who are equally committed to public value.”
What stood out most to Charlotte was the dedication of the lecturers. “They challenged me to ask critical questions and really understand how policy affects people and the environment. That’s a skill I use every day.”
With her next assignment focused on climate-related economic policy at the Dutch central bank, Charlotte is excited to continue bridging economics and sustainability at the highest level.
