I graduated from the RM Social Psychology program in 2020. After my graduation, I briefly worked for the Faculty of Behavioral and Movement Sciences at the VU as a junior lecturer/docent for the Bachelor of Psychology program. I now work with the University of Groningen, Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences, as a PhD researcher. Specifically, I am working on the NWO-funded project 'Now or Never: Discovering the Psychology of Communicating Tipping Points for Social Change', supervised by Dr. Kai Epstude and Dr. Martijn van Zomeren. As part of the project, I work towards understanding how to effectively communicate 'now or never' information to people in order to stimulate collective action, dealing with topics such as climate change mitigation, public health information, and other salient political issues.
Throughout the RM social psychology program, I always tried to focus on socially impactful research with the goal of being able to use my skills towards understanding societal issues in my home country, India. I found that I was encouraged to use this approach and provided with the resources to apply my unique cultural perspective to my coursework. I believe this has been instrumental in taking the next step towards my goal.
