"Coming from quite a different background (I studied Biomedical Science at the University of Warwick), taking Governing Climate Change was my first time studying politics and international relations, with no prior experience in the field. The course was perfectly structured: it introduced the topic clearly while also diving deep into the details of the sector. You become completely immersed in the subject, looking at it from all angles and absorbing so much information.
Some of the highlights for me were how interactive the sessions were, the class discussions, model UN and the 2 group trips we took to connect what we were learning with real-world examples. It was so enjoyable to be surrounded by like-minded people and to share our thoughts and ideas, developing new perspectives together.
Outside of the classroom, living in Amsterdam for two weeks was a dream! Being able to explore and experience the city every day with friends from VU made it so memorable. The programme had the perfect balance between study and social activities, with plenty of opportunities to meet other students you'll end up spending lots of time with.
My number one piece of advice: get a bike and cycle around! It’s absolutely worth it; the most affordable and fun way to get around the city. There are so many places you can explore by bike, and it really adds to the whole experience. You’ll love it!"
