drs. Yashvant Premchand

PhD Candidate, School of Business and Economics, Spatial Economics

Personal information

Yashvant Premchand is a PhD researcher at the department of Spatial Economics of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and at TNO (Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research). 

He holds an MSc (2022) in Spatial, Transport and Environmental Economics, and a BSc (2020) in Earth Sciences, Economics and Sustainability, both from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Throughout his academic and professional journey, he has gathered interdisciplinary expertise in spatial economics, urban planning, and environmental science. 

Research

His research focuses on the impact of climate risks on the housing market, related to the following topics:

  • Do homebuyers consider climate risks when buying a house?
  • How do we increase public awareness about climate risks?
  • Where should we construct new housing?
  • Who is responsible for the financial burden of climate risks?
  • Climate adaptive housing 
  • Broader Welfare (Brede Welvaart)
