Dr. Yara Khaluf is an Associate Professor in Artificial Intelligence at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her research focuses on collective intelligence, swarm robotics, self-organisation, and collective decision-making in natural and artificial systems.
She investigates how interactions among individuals give rise to coordinated group behaviour, combining mathematical modelling with agent-based simulations. Her work includes task allocation and collective perception in robot swarms, as well as hybrid systems that bring together biological and artificial agents.
Through this research, she seeks to understand the principles underlying collective behaviour and apply them to the design of adaptive, decentralised intelligent systems.
