Prof.dr. Stef van Gompel is Full Professor of Intellectual Property at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He is specialized in intellectual property law and in national and international copyright law, in particular. He has written numerous publications in this field and is a regular speaker at national and international conferences. Next to his academic position, he is member of the Executive Board (Collegelid) of the Dutch Copyright Supervisory Authority (College van Toezicht Auteursrechten), member of the Dutch Copyright Committee (copyright advisory committee of the Ministry of Justice and Security of the Netherlands) and editor-in-chief of the Dutch copyright journal Auteursrecht. Previously he has held various other positions in the domain of intellectual property. He is former president of the Dutch national group of AIPPI, former member of the executive committee of AIPPI international, former deputy chairperson of the Standing Committee on Plagiarism of Buma/Stemra, and former member of the board of Reprorecht (the Dutch reprographic reproduction rights foundation) representing authors of professional and scientific publications on behalf of the KNAW.
