Sjoerd Bakker (1973) graduated from the faculty of law of Leiden University (the Netherlands) and obtained his PhD on good faith ('redelijkheid en billijkheid') in contract law in 2012 at the VU University in Amsterdam (the Netherlands). Sjoerd worked for many years as an attorney at law in the fields of contract law, corporate law and liability law at renowned Dutch law firms, lastly at Spigt Dutch Caribbean. Currently working as a judge at the court of appeal of Arnhem-Leeuwarden (the Netherlands) and as endowed professor of jurisprudence at the Radboud University in Nijmegen, Sjoerd regularly lectures and publishes in the fields of Dutch and Dutch Caribbean contract law and liability law.
