Shahana Bilalova is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the department of Environmental Economics at the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM). Her academic background spans social and environmental sciences, with her PhD research focusing on the sustainability of water governance systems through global comparisons. Specifically, she examined different water governance models and their performance in ensuring environmental sustainability. Her PhD was part of the NEWAVE project, a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network.
Currently, Shahana works on the GreenAdapt2Extremes project. Her research within this project focuses on developing adaptive strategies for river basins such as Dora Baltea, Geul, and Erft tributaries, which are affected by extreme floods and droughts. She employs co-creation and Nature-based Solutions in her research approach.
