Sandra Hasanefendic is an assistant professor in Breakthrough Technology Innovation at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where she also serves as associate lead of the Breakthrough Tech Innovation research group. With over a decade of research experience, she investigates R&D and technology upscaling processes for sustainability. Dr. Hasanefendic has published in leading journals including Energy Research & Social Science, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews,Sustainable Cities and Society, Sustainability, Technology Forecasting & Social Change, and Renewable Energy. She collaborates with startups, universities, and public institutions to translate innovation into real-world impact. She holds a double PhD from ISCTE-IUL in Lisbon and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her international collaborations span Portugal, the U.S., Japan, and Sweden. She is also a sought-after speaker and thought leader, regularly presenting at academic conferences and industry forums worldwide.
