In 1994, I defended my PhD thesis, titled "on the origin of mixing costs: Exploring information processing in pure and mixed blocks of trials", under the supervision of professor Dr. Andries Sanders at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. I continued my academic career at the Vrije Universiteit, first as a post doc and later as assistant professor. My current research focuses on the temporal dynamics of preparatory processes. Together with my colleagues I developed the (formalized) multiple trace theory of temporal preparation (fMTP) on human timing phenomena across time scales, ranging from short (seconds) to long (days).
