Personal information

Sabrine El Baroudi is an Assistant Professor in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management at the Department of Management and Organisation within the School of Business and Economics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in the Netherlands. She was also affiliated with the VU Knowledge Hub for Feedback Culture for 6 years, where she served in a leadership role and contributed to research in about feedback culture. Her academic work focuses on topics such as meaningful work, feedback, and proactive career behavior, bridging theory and practice in organizational settings. In addition to her research, she is engaged in teaching and mentoring students at undergraduate and graduate levels. She obtained her PhD in Organizational Behavior and Career Management from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2016.

Sabrine El Baroudi is actively involved in the international academic community through her role in organizing Professional Development Workshops (PDWs) and scholarly sessions. She has contributed to the organization of PDWs at the Academy of Management, where she brings together researchers and practitioners to exchange knowledge on topics such as feedback, meaningful work, and social safety in organizations. She has also played a key role in organizing workshops and contributing to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) conferences held in Marrakech. These events focus on fostering inclusive and socially safe work environments, aligning closely with her research interests. Through these initiatives, she facilitates dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across international audiences, further strengthening the impact and visibility of her work in both academic and practitioner communities. In addition, she is a visiting researcher at New York University Abu Dhabi, where she collaborates annually on research projects focused on diversity and employee proactivity.

Research

Sabrine El Baroudi’s research explores how people experience their work and how organizations can create environments in which employees feel motivated, valued, and able to grow. In accessible terms, she studies what makes work meaningful and how everyday interactions—especially feedback—shape employees’ engagement, performance, and career development. Her work is particularly relevant for organizations aiming to improve employee well-being and effectiveness in rapidly changing work environments. More specifically, her research focuses on themes such as meaningful work, feedback processes, and proactive career behavior. She examines how individuals seek and use feedback, how organizations can foster strong feedback cultures, and how employees take initiative in shaping their own careers. Her work primarily applies to knowledge-intensive sectors, including corporate, public, and academic organizations. By combining insights from organizational behavior and human resource management, she contributes to both academic debates and practical solutions for improving workplace dynamics and careers.

Teaching

Sabrine El Baroudi’s teaching focuses on organizational behavior and human resource management, with an emphasis on connecting academic insights to real-world workplace challenges. She teaches at both undergraduate and graduate levels, working with students from diverse academic and professional backgrounds. Her teaching approach encourages critical thinking, active participation, and the application of theory to practice, particularly in areas such as meaningful work, feedback, and career development.

In addition to her classroom teaching, she is actively involved in educational development within her institution. She contributes to curriculum design and innovation, particularly in relation to fostering feedback-rich learning environments and supporting student engagement. She has also taken on coordinating roles within programs and initiatives, where she helps shape the direction of education and ensures alignment between teaching, research, and professional practice.
