I am a PhD candidate at the Department of Philosophy of VU Amsterdam, and a visiting fellow at the Center for Sleep and Consciousness, UW-Madison. My interests cover topics in the philosophy of mind, metaphysics, philosophy of science (especially neuroscience), and epistemology. I am especially interested in questions relating to consciousness.
My research focuses on Giulio Tononi's Integrated Information Theory of Consciousness (IIT), one of today's leading neuroscientific theories of consciousness. Currently, I am investigating how IIT's framework can be applied to problems in the philosophy of mind (e.g. the hard problem of consciousness), and metaphysics (e.g. problems concerning ontological and causal reductionism).
My project is funded by the NWO (Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research) and by Prins Bernard Cultuurfonds.
