Personal information

Dr. Ronald van Steden is Universitair Hoofddocent Bestuurswetenschappen en Politicologie aan de Faculteit der Sociale Wetenschappen van de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam en Senior Onderzoeker bij het Nederlands Studiecentrum Criminaliteit en Rechtshandhaving (NSCR).  Meer in het bijzonder houdt Van Steden zich bezig met vraagstukken rondom het thema politie, openbare orde en veiligheid. Van Steden doceert in de master Besturen van Veiligheid aan de VU.

Dr. Ronald van Steden is Associate Professor in Public Administration and Political Science at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Senior Researcher at the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (NSCR). 

Research

Ronald van Steden verricht onderzoek naar politie, openbare orde en veiligheid, private veiligheid, gemeentelijke handhaving, vrijwillige politie, wijkpolitie, politie en zorg, lokale veiligheidsnetwerken, burgerparticipatie in veiligheid en de normatieve dimensies van veiligheid. 

Ronald van Steden's research interests include public policing, private and plural policing, community policing, volunteer police, policing and public health, the governance of security, citizen participation in community safety, and the religious, moral and philosophical dimensions of security. 

Teaching

Binnen de afstudeerrichting Besturen van Veiligheid geeft Van Steden het vak Samenwerking in Veilgheid. Ook begeleidt hij mastertheses.

Van Steden teaches in the master Governance of Security.
