Philippe Evoy


Visiting Fellow, Faculty of Science, Environmental Policy Analysis

Personal information

Philippe Evoy is a joint PhD candidate at the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and at Université Laval in Québec City, Canada. Before starting his PhD, he worked as an international relations advisor at the National Assembly of Québec. He holds an MSc in International relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) as well as a BSc in International studies from Université de Montréal.

His research focuses on the environmental governance of areas beyond national jurisdiction. His thesis project focuses on measures for environmental protection in international agreements concerning Antarctica, the deep seabed and outer space. He is interested in understanding how certain natural areas become protected better than others under international legal regimes.

Philippe is the recipient of a PhD scholarship from the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture (FRQSC) as well as a Marcel-et-Annie-Adams scholarship in international studies.
