PhD Candidate, Faculty of Science, Earth and Climate

Research

My research focuses on aeolian transport and sediment sorting processes in the Dutch coastal dune system, particularly in the hinterland areas affected by dynamic coastal management interventions such as foredune notches and blowouts.

To investigate these processes, I collect suspended aeolian sand using sand traps and analyse grain size, shape, and mineral composition. By integrating geomorphological and meteorological data, I aim to predict the spatiotemporal variability of sediment transport and assess its potential impacts on soil development and dune ecology behind the foredune.

Teaching

Before starting my PhD at the VU, I worked for three years as a junior lecturer in the Earth Sciences Department. During this time, I gained experience in lecturing, supervising students, and supporting field-based education. I also obtained the University Teaching Qualification (Basis Kwalificatie Onderwijs) at the VU.
