My research focuses on aeolian transport and sediment sorting processes in the Dutch coastal dune system, particularly in the hinterland areas affected by dynamic coastal management interventions such as foredune notches and blowouts.
To investigate these processes, I collect suspended aeolian sand using sand traps and analyse grain size, shape, and mineral composition. By integrating geomorphological and meteorological data, I aim to predict the spatiotemporal variability of sediment transport and assess its potential impacts on soil development and dune ecology behind the foredune.
