Maurice Remy is a PhD Candidate at the Athena Institute of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His research focuses on patient involvement (and its epistemic value) in (biomedical) health research, using the case of atrial fibrillation.
Furthermore, he obtained an M.Sc. in Global Health in 2023 and has multiple years of experience as an activist in the field of access to medicines. Early in his studies, he started to be active in student-led organizations, where his interest in Global Health was awakened and encouraged to grow. Since then, he has served in a variety of (leadership) roles in these organizations, where he organized events and campaigns, led student groups to advocate for their beliefs and educated his peers and others.
His biggest passion lies in the realisation of ensuring global access to all medicines everywhere for everyone according to their needs and in solving the biggest issue humanity is facing currently - the climate crisis. In addition, he's dedicated to empowering and enabling young (and other marginalised) voices in discussions at all levels, as it is still an often untapped, but valuable resource for more effective and positive solutions.
