Martijn Veltkamp has a Ph.D. in psychology, which he obtained in 2009 at Utrecht University in the department of Social & Organizational Psychology. His research originally focused on fundamental theoretical questions of social and cognitive psychology, specifically on the nonconscious sources of goal setting and motivation. Since then, his research has been more focused in the area of consumer psychology, which he has done both at Twente University, as well as outside academia in the food industry, where he worked several years. His recent research interests are focused around the theoretical question of what is a person, and what it means to answer the question 'Who am I?' being a question about personal identity. He is working towards a new way of understanding personal identity, and open for collaborations to apply this theory in consumer psychology and marketing settings.
