Marjolein Ribberink is a PhD Candidate in the department of Water and Climate Risk at the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM). Her research focuses on the extratropical transition of tropical cyclones and the subsequent hazards they pose as post-tropical cyclones, and how this changes with changing climate. The research is undertaken as part of the Gallagher Re Tropical Cyclone Consortium.
Marjolein obtained her BSc in Atmospheric Science from the University of British Columbia (Canada) followed by her MSc in Climate Physics from Utrecht University (Netherlands). She wrote her Master’s thesis on alternate climate simulations of Hurricane Ophelia, which struck Ireland as a post-tropical cyclone in 2017.
