Marieke Oderkerk (Haarlem, 21 May 1967) studied Dutch law (LLM 1993) and Italian language and literature (MA 1991) at the University of Amsterdam. From 1993 to 1998, she was a PhD-researcher at the same university's Law Faculty. In 1999, she obtained a PhD on a topic related to comparative legal research methodology.
From 1998 until the end of 2000, she was a university lecturer at the Molengraaff Institute for Private Law of Utrecht University. She then joined the University of Amsterdam as assistant professor as from October 2000 and as associate professor from April 2010 onwards. She was research coordinator of the Amsterdam Institute of Private Law between 2005-2008. In January 2009, she joined the Centre for the Study of European Contract Law (now Amsterdam Centre for Transformative Private Law (ACT)). From July 2019 to 2022, she was program director of the Master Privaatrecht (UvA). On 1 August 2022, she was appointed full professor of private international law and comparative law at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and is part-time associate professor at the University of Amsterdam. Furthermore, in 2013 she was installed as deputy judge at the Amsterdam Court of Appeal.
Marieke Oderkerk (Haarlem, 21 mei 1967) heeft Nederlands Recht (doctoraal 1993) en Italiaanse taal- en letterkunde (doctoraal 1991) gestudeerd aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Van 1993 tot 1998 was zij als assistent in opleiding verbonden aan de leerstoelgroep internationaal privaatrecht en rechtsvergelijking van dezelfde universiteit. In 1999 promoveerde zij op een onderwerp met betrekking tot de methodologie van de rechtsvergelijking.
Van 1998 tot eind 2000 is zij als universitair docent verbonden geweest aan het Molengraaff Instituut voor Privaatrecht van de Universiteit Utrecht. Vervolgens is zij eind 2000 als universitair docent (sinds 2010 als universitair hoofddocent) gestart bij de afdeling Privaatrecht van de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Daar was zij van 2005 tot eind 2007 onderzoekscoördinator van het Amsterdams Instituut voor Privaatrecht. Sinds januari 2009 maakt zij daar deel uit van het Centre for the Study of European Contract Law (thans Amsterdam Centre for Transformative Private Law (ACT)). Van juli 2019 tot 2022 was zij opleidingsdirecteur van de master Privaatrecht (UvA). Op 1 augustus 2022 is zij benoemd tot hoogleraar internationaal privaatrecht en rechtsvergelijking aan de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam en is zij daarnaast nog in deeltijd verbonden als universitair hoofddocent aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Voorts is zij onder meer sinds 2013 raadsheer-plaatsvervanger bij het Hof Amsterdam.
