Marieke Bos is a Full Professor at the department of Finance at the VU University Amsterdam (0.2 FTE). She is also Docent (Associate Professor) in Financial Economics at SSE and a Deputy Director of the Swedish House of Finance at the Stockholm School of Economics. She obtained her Ph.D. in Economics at Stockholm University in 2010.
Since 2021 Marieke is a CEPR and Tinbergen Research Fellow, and since 2011 a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia Consumer Finance Institute. Marieke is also a Scientific Board member of the National Debt Office in Sweden and currently an Expert in the governement inquiry "Measures against Over-Indebtedness with Particular Focus on Perpetual Debtors" (Fi 2025:05).
Marieke has been a board member of the Swedish Pensions Agency and a visiting scholar at the Central Bank of Sweden. Expert in the Swedish Government Inquiry; (Dir 2023:53) Borrower-Based macroprudential measures in Sweden. Furthermore, she has worked as a consultant for the Swedish (FI) and UK (FCA) Financial Regulator on topics within consumer protection and consumer credit repayments.
