Maria Tamontseva

PhD Candidate, School of Business and Economics, Management and Organisation

Personal information

Maria Tamontseva is a PhD researcher and teacher at the Department of Management and Organization at the School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. In August 2023, she started a 4-year PhD project on entrepreneurial careers under the supervision of Dr. Jos Akkermans and Dr. Wouter Stam.

Research

In four projects based on her PhD dissertation, Maria addresses different aspects of entrepreneurial careers: entrepreneurial career success, layoffs and founder exits, and former entrepreneurs' behavior and success in paid employment. In her work, Maria adopts diverse methods, including literature reviews, digital data analysis, and longitudinal survey data analysis.

Teaching

Maria teaches Bachelor-level courses, such as People in Business and Society and Organization Theory. Moreover, Maria supervises Bachelor and Master students.
