Personal information
After studying Classics (BA Oxford, MA VU Amsterdam) and Theology (MA RU Nijmegen), I have been employed as a PhD Candidate in ancient Greek literature at VU Amsterdam since September 2026. My project, which is funded by NWO PhDs in the Humanities, aims to trace how environmental discourses developed in the classical period (500-323 BCE) in response to the historical practices of colonisation and imperialism. To this end, I carry out a comprehensive synchronic analysis of human-environment representations in a wide range of genres, authors, and sociopolitical contexts, through the lens of ecocriticism and critical discourse analysis.
