I research the politics of welfare transformations, particularly how recent developments such as the rise of populist radical right parties and the current wave of technological innovation have destabilized existing redistributive arrangements in Western Europe. In January 2023, I started a project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation on the challenges of automation and digitalization of work on the welfare state. This project investigates how those transformations will likely affect the welfare state's politics and points to politically viable solutions to ensure welfare protection in a transforming world of work.
