Joeri van Hugten is assistant professor of entrepreneurship at the department of Management and Organisation of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He holds a PhD from Tilburg University (2015).

Research
Joeri's research focuses on appreciating small initiatives to improve lives. He investigates the personal well being of entrepreneurs and small business leaders.
Joeri's work leverages unique and creative data visualization, rich philosophies of science, and minimalist language to provide new insights into the challenges around engaging stakeholders.
Teaching
Joeri teaches courses on entrepreneurship for student groups from a variety of disciplines. As of 2025, he serves as chair of the Programme Committee of the MSc in Entrepreneurship at the VU Amsterdam and UvA, channeling student experiences into curriculum innovation.
