Jelmar Meester is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His research focusses on the development of corporate violation and the applicability of a life course criminology perspective and methodology on corporations. His research is a collaboration between the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Leiden University, and the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (NSCR).
Background
Jelmar completed his bachelor’s in criminology at Leiden University in 2019. He obtained his master’s degrees in Criminology and Security Policy and in Forensic Criminology (cum laude) in 2022. He also completed the Leiden Leadership Programme. During his master’s programmes, Jelmar conducted research for several governmental agencies. His master’s theses were on the developmental trajectories of corporate violation within Dutch inland shipping and the level of violation diversity within Dutch inland shipping
