After his Molecular Sciences study in Wageningen, Chris Vos obtained his PhD degree from the UvA based on research performed at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) at Heidelberg, Germany in the group of Henk Stunnenberg (1986-1990), where he studied transcription regulation in vaccinia virus. Then he moved to the Netherlands Cancer Institute (Amsterdam) where he had two post-doc positions, first in the group of Ronald Plasterk on DNA transposition in Ceanorabditis elegans and second in the group of Sjaak Neefjes on the structure of the transporter associated with antigen presentation (TAP). In 2000, he became lecturer at the Vrije Universiteit in the Biochemistry division headed by Prof. Raué investigating the biogenesis of ribosomes in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Later, he joined the Molecular Toxicology division headed by Prof. Vermeulen focusing on drug metabolism and drug-induced cellular responses. He has coordinated scientific activities at VU University in the context of ASAT, the IMI-JU MIP-DILI project on characterization of cellular model systems and the educational IMI-JU SafeSciMET project. Currently, he is programme director for BSc Farmaceutische wetenschappen and MSc Drug Discovery and Safety. As a lecturer, he covers topics in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Toxicology.
