Janique Kroese is universitair docent bij de afdeling Criminologie van de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Zij is verbonden aan het Nederlands Studiecentrum voor Criminaliteit en Rechtshandhaving (NSCR) en was tevens visiting researcher aan Griffith University in Australië. Haar onderzoek richt zich voornamelijk op de dynamiek binnen gezinnen en crimineel gedrag.

In 2022 promoveerde Janique Kroese aan de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam en het NSCR. In haar proefschrift onderzocht zij de effecten van opgroeien in een eenoudergezin tijdens de kinder- en adolescentiefase op de betrokkenheid van jongeren bij delinquent gedrag. Tijdens haar promotietraject werkte zij daarnaast aan diverse projecten over de gevolgen van ouderlijke criminaliteit, vechtscheidingen en huiselijk geweld. Voorafgaand aan haar promotie voltooide zij een researchmaster Sociale Psychologie en was zij werkzaam als onderzoeksassistent en junior docent aan de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Janique Kroese is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She is affiliated with the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (NSCR) and she was a visiting researcher at Griffith University in Australia. Her research focuses primarily on the dynamics of families and criminal behavior.

In 2022, Janique Kroese obtained her PhD at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the NSCR. In her dissertation, she examined the effects of growing up in a single-parent family during childhood and adolescence on adolescents’ involvement in delinquency. During her PhD trajectory, she also worked on several projects concerning the consequences of parental crime, high-conflict divorces, and domestic violence. Before starting her PhD position, she obtained a research master’s degree in Social Psychology and worked as a research assistant and junior lecturer at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Janique Kroese coördineert en verzorgt onderwijs in de bachelor- en masteropleiding Criminologie:

  • Ontwikkelings- en levensloopcriminologie
  • Scriptiecoördinator van de masteropleiding
  • Begeleiden van bachelor- en masterscripties

Janique Kroese is tevens lid van de Examencommissie van de Faculteit der Rechtsgeleerdheid.
