Jan Brusselaers is an Assistant Professor at the Environmental Economics department of IVM. He is specialised in the economics of sustainability transitions and policies in support of these transitions. In this context, Jan demonstrates a particular interest in the Circular Economy.
His background is in environmental economics. He began his research career with applied research in international value chains of agricultural products and natural resources and subsequently completed a PhD on the assessment of public policy options to promote sustainability in the value chain of wood. Following his PhD, Jan started to specialise in the topic of Circular Economy and assessed both the economic and environmental impact of increased circularity. Jan mainly applies quantitative techniques, including both partial and general equilibrium models and a wide range of econometric tools.
Jan is engaged in, and responsible for the courses of ‘Environmental Economics' and 'Environment and policy' at Antwerp University (Belgium) and supervises BSc and MSc theses as well as several PhD students.
