Iris Becx did a bachelor's in Cultuurwetenschappen (Arts and Cultures) at Maastricht University and followed by a master's in Victimology and Criminal Justice at Tilburg University, where she graduated in 2017. She is also active as a neighborhood mediator.

Iris Becx volgde de bachelor Cultuurwetenschappen aan de Universiteit van Maastricht en daarna de master Victimology and Criminal Justice aan de Universiteit van Tilburg, waar zij in 2017 afstudeerde. Ze is ook actief als buurtbemiddelaar.

Research

Iris is conducting her PhD-research on the needs of victims of crime and traffic accidents in compensation schemes, as well as what elements in those proceedings can be conducive to recovery for victims. She is also looking at the role of legal professionals such as advocates and insurers, and the importance of contact between those involved after an accident.

Iris doet promotieonderzoek naar de behoeften van slachtoffers van criminaliteit en verkeersongevallen in een procedure om schadevergoeding, en welke elementen in die procedure herstelbevorderend kunnen werken voor slachtoffers. Daarbij kijkt ze ook naar de rol van juridische professionals zoals belangenbehartigers en verzekeraars, en het belang van contact tussen betrokkenen na een ongeval.
