Hans Visser (1943) is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Economics. I taught international economics, monetary theory and money and banking, and my research activities were also in these fields, with the history of economic thought an additional interest. After my retirement in 2008 I have been lecturing and publishing mainly on recent developments in the monetary landscape and in particular on Islamic Finance, and also on economic methodology.
