Personal information

Since 2006 Assistant Professor History of Law.

She studied Classics (UvA), Linguistics (UvA), Law (RuG) and Philosophy (RuG).

Sinds 2006 Universitair Docent Rechtsgeschiedenis.

Zij studeerde Klassieke Talen (UvA), Algemene Taalwetenschap (UvA), Rechten (RuG) en Filosofie (RuG).

 

Research

Investigation is primarily focused on Byzantine Law and takes place within the research programme Public and private interests in finance and business law’ of the Kooijmans–Institute, more specifically the subprogramme ‘Legal certainty’. It is also part of the programme ‘Contract Law and Law of Obligations in General’ of the Research School Ius Commune.

Het onderzoek is voornamelijk gericht op het Byzantijnse recht en vindt plaats binnen het onderzoeksprogramma Publieke en private belangen in het financieel- en ondernemingsrecht’ van het Kooijmans-Instituut, meer in het bijzonder van het subprogramma ‘Rechtszekerheid’. Het maakt ook deel uit van het programma ‘Contract Law and Law of Obligations in General’ van de onderzoeksschool Ius Commune.

Grants

Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers 2014 (Alexander von Humboldt-Foundation): Since September 2014 De Jong is reseacher at the Goethe Universität and the Max-Planck-Institut für europäische Rechtsgeschichte in Frankfurt am Main. The title of the research: Von der Norminterpretation zur Rechtstheorie, Gesellschaft und Auftrag im byzantinischen Recht. Besides studying mandatum (mandate) and societas (partnership) in Byzantine law, its reception by the Humanists will also be studied.

Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers 2014 (Alexander von Humboldt-Foundation): De Jong doet vanaf september 2014 onderzoek aan de Goethe Universität en het Max-Planck-Institut für europäische Rechtsgeschichte in Frankfurt am Main. De titel van het onderzoek is: Von der Norminterpretation zur Rechtstheorie, Gesellschaft und Auftrag im byzantinischen Recht. Naast de bestudering van mandatum (opdracht) en societas (maatschap) in het Byzantijnse recht, zal de receptie ervan bij de Humanisten worden bestudeerd.
